Yesterday's Mayday Rally at the Brian Clough statue organised by the Nottingham and Mansfield Trades Union Council recounted the gains of the Labour movement over the past year and spoke of current struggles against the Bedroom tax in particular. The rostrum almost shone with the hard work of the labour left in defeating the tory monster in the County.

Folks have been beavering away in the Sumac Yard Garden.

A petition http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/to-the-members-of-the-notts-trades-union-council.html was launched yesterday in an attempt to make the Nottingham Trades Council listen and act on the views of the wider activist community about Mayday speakers, something they abjectly failed to do last year with the invitation of expenses scandal Labour MP Alan Meale.

The G8 leaders are meeting in the north of Ireland in June this year to discuss how to maintain the brutal exploitation of 99% of the world's population.

Had written to local Nottingham MP to enquire after attitude to workfare.

Members of the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) held a national strike today on Budget Day across the country. To highlight their concerns over pay, pensions and the governments continued austerity measures.  

Nottingham EDL are trying to shut down a Family Retreat conference at the University of Nottingham for the sole reason that it is being held by Muslims. Fans starting gathering in the Market Square, Nottingham.

Later in the day, three Wolves fans were arrested. One after a flare was set off inside the ground. Two other arrests were for public order offences.
