On Friday evening, the PCS union's regional Black Members Network organised a meeting about the use of police stop and search powers in Nottingham's Irish Centre. Around 50 people attended with contributions from as far afield as London and Birmingham.

As of 9:00 pm Sunday 21 April Occupy Nottingham will end their occupation of Nottingham's Market Place after 190 days.

On Thursday 5 April, after a couple of earlier dates with the law, campers from Occupy Nottingham appeared at Nottingham County Court, [sitting in the Magistrates Court] Carrington Street.

Campers and supporters protested and displayed banners outside of the court, before and after the hearing. There was some media interest.

Following the hearing on 5th April Occupy Nottingham are very pleased with the result achieved so far with a three week adjournment before a three day trial begins on 30th April.

This means they will be celebrating their six month anniversary on the Market Square on 15th April.

At around miday and later at 4pm, teachers  and supporters gathered in the Market Square to protest at Nottingham City Council plan for a 5 term Year.

The NUT says, the first of what may be a series of strikes attracted strong support from members. Almost all the schools involved in the strike were completely or partially closed.

Public Interest Lawyers (PIL) have been instructed by Occupy Nottingham as the group fight eviction by Nottingham City Council.

The Police' sforceful confiscation of photographic eveidence from journalist Lewis Stainer raises some important issues that should not be overlooked.

A dispute between police and the National Union of Journalists over officers confiscating a video filmed by a student journalist could be taken to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

About 10 days ago,  the Nottingham City Council served a notice on the Occupy Nottingham camp. That unless they stifted by the Monday 5th March, the council said they would start proceedings.  The camp said it wouldn't be moving.

At 3pm on Thursday afternoon [8th March] Nottingham City Council officials served the court hearing papers on the Occupy camp.

These questions relating to important issues in our city, have been waiting to be presented in person to the council when, they actually meet with representatives from Occupy Nottingham for open dialogue to discuss the reason we are here... we are still waiting!

EDL Nottingham thug, Eddie Stobart lorry driver Brendan Moran, is one of the rabble rousers of the Notts branch of the fascist group.  He regularly pubishes extreme posts of racism online, thinking he can get away with it.  Now he has taken to posting death threats against leftwing politicians, a typical action against democracy from a far right group which pretends it supports free speech.
